VIRTUAL HELPDESK
Voluntary Slavery & Human Trafficking Statement
Virtual Helpdesk Limited (“Virtual Helpdesk”) is committed to ensuring that modern slavery and human trafficking have no place in our business or our supply chain. This statement sets out the actions we took during the financial year ended 30 April 2026 to identify the risks of modern slavery within our organisational structure and supply chain, and the measures we have in place to address them.
Our turnover is below the £36 million threshold in section 54 of the Modern Slavery Act 2015, so we are not required to publish a statement. We do so voluntarily, because we supply public sector and regulated organisations and believe transparency about our supply chain is the right thing to do at any size.
Organisational Structure and Business
Virtual Helpdesk Limited is a UK-based software company providing cloud software for facilities management, planned preventative maintenance and statutory compliance. We serve clients across the United Kingdom. Our supply chain consists primarily of cloud infrastructure and hosting providers, software and SaaS tooling, professional services, IT hardware purchased through UK resellers, and occasional UK-based independent contractors who assist with software development.
We are a small business operating solely in the professional software sector. All our people are directly employed by Virtual Helpdesk Limited and based in the United Kingdom. We have no manufacturing, warehousing, logistics, cleaning or catering operations, and we engage no recruitment agencies, labour providers or seasonal labour.
Policies and Ethical Principles
We operate a Modern Slavery and Human Trafficking Policy setting out our zero-tolerance position on forced labour, child labour, debt bondage and trafficking, and the standards we expect of our suppliers and contractors. The policy is reviewed annually and approved by the board.
We maintain a Whistleblowing Policy enabling employees, contractors and third parties to raise concerns confidentially, including any suspicion of unethical, illegal or exploitative behaviour, without fear of retaliation.
All employees hold legally compliant employment contracts, are paid at or above the National Living Wage directly into an account in their own name, and have had their right to work in the United Kingdom verified in accordance with UK law. No employee or contractor has paid any direct or indirect recruitment fee. Where services are provided by external contractors or consultants, written contracts for services are in place setting out terms and accountability.
Due Diligence in Supply Chains and Risk Assessment
We are not in a high-risk sector, but we are committed to improving our supply chain oversight. Supplier due diligence is currently conducted through our ISO 27001 certified information security management system, under which prospective and existing suppliers are assessed by questionnaire and relationships are reviewed annually.
We recognise the importance of identifying and managing modern slavery risk even in sectors such as software, where the risk profile is typically low. Our principal suppliers by spend are large, established technology and professional services firms, most of which publish their own statements under section 54, and which we have reviewed where available.
We recognise that we have less visibility of the deeper tiers of our supply chain, particularly electronics manufacturing and the construction and operation of data centre facilities. We will continue to review risk across our tier one suppliers and to extend anti-slavery provisions into our standard supplier and contractor terms.
Training and Awareness
All employees receive modern slavery awareness training as part of induction and annual policy review, covering the indicators of forced labour and trafficking, the standards we expect of suppliers, and how to raise a concern. Given the size of our business this is delivered directly by a director rather than through a training platform.
As our compliance framework develops we will continue to assess training needs, with particular focus on procurement and supplier engagement.
Effectiveness and Key Performance Indicators
We use the following indicators to measure how effective we have been in ensuring that slavery and human trafficking are not taking place in any part of our business or supply chain:
- Percentage of supplier contracts that include anti-slavery provisions;
- Percentage of staff receiving training on identifying and addressing the risk of slavery and human trafficking in our business and supply chain;
- Percentage of tier one suppliers by spend whose modern slavery position has been reviewed;
- Number of modern slavery concerns raised and addressed.
This voluntary slavery and human trafficking statement is made for the financial year ended 30 April 2026 and was approved by the board of Virtual Helpdesk Limited. This statement will be submitted to the UK Government’s Modern Slavery Statement Registry as part of our commitment to transparency and ethical business practice.
